Hiring Trends in 2013

Can you believe that we are already halfway through the 2013? It has been a weird year in some respects when we speak about hiring and recruiting. Some companies are heating up. Consequently, we are seeing a deficit in talent – Human Resource being a noteworthy career path that requires more warm bodies – while still others resume being plagued with unemployment.
About 25% of companies have stated that they plan to hire more employees this year and only 9% stated that they plan for cuts. It’s interesting that both numbers increased from 2012. Therefore it is an odd bag that more companies planning to make cuts and more planning to hire. Employment can be found everywhere and it might be difficult to pin down accurately what’s going on.
A research performed by Community Job Group shows that marketing, sales, customer service, IT, business development, engineering, R&D, admin, finance, accounting are all anticipated to see increases in hiring in the rest of 2013. They also show that we can expect some other trends to appear in 2013. You should check whether you see these employment trends in your company, or find more detailed information at
Last year, about 36% of companies used temporary staffing and contract instead of employing permanent workers or only when they cannot get permanent workers. If you want to sit on a seat, then using a contractor or a temp is reasonable. Do you use contractors? If yes, is it because you cannot find an employee, or are you planning to convert contractor or a temp to permanent? Try not limiting yourself to active job hunters if you can take over the rank of other companies and your competitors. About 20 percent of workers stated that they have been approached by different companies for a job offer even when they had not applied or been planning to do so.
